A local lass, Pai

One of the pre-requisites to taking a photo of someone in South East Asia is politely asking their permission. I spotted this young lady in the walking street market and thought she’d make a good portrait. Luckily she was happy to oblige. The Thai people are very friendly to tourists. You can literally be sitting in the back of a truck and if you smile at passers by they will always smile back at you. It reminds me of my youth in Ireland. Some would say economic development comes with a price though. I wonder how long the Thai people will continue to smile at strangers…only time will tell!
